Obzor

The city is famous for its six-kilometer beach line, its wonderful climate resulting from the beautiful combination of sea and mountain, its interesting history, which has left a rich heritage. Obzor is located 60 km south of Varna, 70 km north of Bourgas and 440 km east of Sofia.

 

History

The origins of the town, which the ancient Greeks knew as Heliopolis ( “town of the sun” ), can be seen in the small park which is lined with columns and statuary fragments from a Roman temple to Jupiter which ones graced the spot.

Climate

Average temperature of the air in the summer is about 28°C and of the water – between 23°-26°C. In the morning before sunrise the air is rich in ozone and negative ions, ultraviolet rays and iodine released in the form of gas from the seaweed.
